Data Visualization Analyst

Location: Hybrid (60% Bethesda, MD; 40% remote)

About the Role:

EMI Advisors is seeking an innovative Data Visualization Analyst for immediate hire. The ideal candidate has experience participating in the design and deployment of advanced data analytics and visualization decision support solutions to improve enterprise performance, preferably within the U.S. government.   

In this role, you will contribute to data visualization development. You will own the scope and timeline for your projects and communicate statuses within the team and with external stakeholders. You will collaborate with product owners, managers, developers, and other analysts to ensure the timely delivery of exceptional value to the end customer. You will embrace and facilitate solutions-minded systems thinking and Lean Six Sigma methodologies throughout your projects. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the team in the transformation of raw data into actionable business insights.  

  • Visualize complex relationships using concepts from graph theory and driver relationships.   

  • Configure and implement analytics and data visualization solutions.  

  • Participate in daily program management activities supporting continuous delivery of executive analytics.  

  • Contribute to executive level briefings and solution demonstrations.  

  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, lean in, and produce creative solutions to problems.  

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in performance improvement, data analysis, and reporting.  

  • Experience with visualization, business intelligence, and analysis tools such as Qlik, Tableau, and Power BI.  

  • Knowledge of descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.  

  • Knowledge of deterministic and stochastic modeling.  

  • Programming skills: SQL, Python, or R.  

  • Ability to design, develop and maintain scripts and queries for data mapping and extraction tasks for multiple systems and platforms.     

  • ETL experience.  

  • Ability to analyze problems, think quickly, and resolve conflict within a changing environment.  

  • Great attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude. 

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.  

  • BS or BA degree in Engineering, Statistics, Math, Economics, Business, Computer Science, Cognitive Science or similar. 

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to commute to the DC Metro area.

  • A quiet and stable environment to make and receive calls and other communications when working remotely.

  • U.S. Citizenship and authorized to work in the United States. 

  • Ability to hold a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.

  • Ability to travel by car, train, or plane; anticipated less than 5% annually. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Qlik Sense.  

  • Experience with MS Visio and MS Power Automate.   

  • Experience working with/creating d3 extensions.   

  • Experience in the Department of Defense.  

  • MS or MA degree in Engineering, Statistics, Math, Economics, Business, Computer Science, Cognitive Science or similar.  

  • Agile and/or Lean Six Sigma Certification.  

  • Strong interest in technology, innovation, artificial intelligence, clean energy, supply chain management, or financial management.
